3 Reasons To Turn To Natural Remedies Before Western Medicine

Posted on

For thousands of years, people have been getting sick. It is true that sicknesses that are only annoyances now used to sweep through entire towns, killing many, but those days are long gone. This is not an article about how Western Medicine should be avoided at all costs. There is a place and time for doctor prescribed medications. However, there is something to be said for natural health products. Here are 3 reasons a natural remedy may be a better solution to treat common ailments

1. Lack of Chemicals. One of the main reasons why natural remedies could potentially be more beneficial for one's body is that there are usually less ingredients in natural products. When reading the back of a store bought medication, lotion, or antiseptic, there are many many ingredients, sometimes even harmful chemicals. Why, when given the choice, would someone choose to put chemicals into their body over an equally potent natural remedy? For a perfect example, check the back of any store bought bottle of Aloe Vera. One will find many active ingredients, usually including dye of some sort and a few unrecognizable ingredients. What is the natural remedy? Aloe. From the aloe plant. It is totally possible to go to a health store, buy an aloe leaf and squeeze out natural aloe which will soothe a sunburn just as effectively.

2. Less Side Effects. Along with skipping the chemicals in many store bought medications, one will also be skipping potential side effects from said chemicals. While it is possible to be allergic to things in nature, i.e., seasonal allergies, the less ingredients a product contains the less possible allergens. It is especially a good idea to use natural remedies on children, since their allergens may not be known of yet. Some natural remedies could even introduce a new ingredient to a child in a mild way, so that if there is an allergic reaction it may be less threatening.

3. Cheaper. If an individual knows where to look for remedies, they will quite possibly be substantially cheaper than any store bought medicine. There are many plants which have healing effects, as well as herbs and spices. Tea has been solving ailments for hundreds of years, and is still just as potent. Keep in mind, however, that many types of tea also have many ingredients, so it is a good idea to stick with the more basic recipes. Natural remedies could save hundreds of dollars for families who know how to use them.
